Does having a high VO2Max means you can run faster? Is it the most important factor that determines a runner’s speed? Will someone with a lower VO2Max be able to outrun someone with a higher reading?
Is there any other ways to improve running speed and economy without raising the VO2Max value?
I am thankful to have all the above questions answered in my 6 weeks running strength research programme at the Singapore Sports Institute.
I was put through 2.4km tests, 2 VO2Max tests and a series of strength training as part of the running study. This video is to share my experience, results and some of my findings.
