A few weeks ago, I get to try a cool try shoe, the Asics Glideride, one of their Energy Saving Series Running shoes, the other two, of course, are the Evoride and Metaride.
Today, I will review it after having run 100km in it.
It weighs 9.9oz or 280g, with a stack height of 32mm (heel), 27mm (forefoot)
Of course, when I first wore it, the first thing everyone should immediately feel is the mid-sole rocking feel. For once, I felt like a baby rocking when I walked. I was totally not used to the feeling and felt really uncomfortable when walking around in it. But the shoes really grows into you once you adapt to it.
It is designed to be more curved than traditional running shoes, a technology they named the GUIDESOLE. It is designed to reduce ankle flexion and provide a shock-absorbent landing zone to lessen the fatigue of other leg muscles and increase runner efficiency.
I would say, I was totally blown away! I do not run in neutral shoes often due to my over-pronation, and boy does this shoe work amazingly well for me. I will explain later.
Together with its trademark REARFOOT GEL TECHNOLOGY CUSHIONING SYSTEM, I was able to pretty much maintain a decent running form, even when during my fast runs.
The FlyteFoam midsole technology provides exceptional bounce back and responsiveness no matter the distance, utilizing organic super fibres to help reduce packing out that traditionally happens with softer, low-density foams.
I dare to say, this is easily one of the most comfortable shoes I had ever worn, period! Asics shoes are always well designed for comfort, but if it is able to withstand long-distance impact.
After running a half marathon or 21km in it, I could believe how fresh my legs still feel after the intense workout. And that is running at around 5min pace.
Then, how about quick short distances? I race 5km in a Parkrun on tough sandy conditions, running at around 4:20min pace and I really felt the curve designed of the shoe propel me forward with every step, while the cushion continues to do its job of protecting me.
And this morning, I did my usual tempo training and manage to record a 10K PB during a training run, shaving off almost 100seconds off my previous PB, and again, my feet did not feel like it went through much impact!
I love it so much, that I easily clocked more than 100km in it, in rotation with my other running shoes, and it is challenging my other babies to become my favourite running shoe!
I never knew I love such rocking shoes so much!
I have not even talked about the Multi-directional mesh material improves great ventilation and stability!
I have flat feet that lead to overpronation, and I totally have no problem running, long-distance, short distance and at an intense pace in this super comfortable Glideride.
